What is a Lidocaine Infusion?
Lidocaine is a common local anesthetic that can be administered by IV infusion to treat and relieve chronic pain. By slowly administering IV lidocaine intravenously, its mechanism of action is different than when it is directly injected into tissue. When administered intravenously, lidocaine has been shown to be effective in modulating and dampening pain responses in those who suffer from chronic pain conditions.
