Who is a good candidate for a wrist injection?
Patients who are experiencing wrist pain that has not gotten better with conservative treatments, such as ice, rest, and/or physical therapy, may benefit from a steroid injection into their wrist. During your first consultation your physician will review your medical history, medications, and perform a physical examination. They may also do an ultrasound examination to determine if you would benefit from a wrist injection.
How is a wrist injection performed?
We can perform all wrist injections in our office. During the procedure, your physician will target the affected area through ultrasound or X-ray and once the needle placement is confirmed the corticosteroid is injected. This procedure is minimally invasive and usually takes less than 15 minutes to perform. There is little to no downtime afterwards and patients can expect to see results within 3-5 days.
